SilkandSuits 's Thoughts:

There must be a reason why brides-to-be wish for a June wedding and I think it’s because the summer months are the time for love. As continuous sunny spells delight Londoners, the streets and parks are flooded with ‘moonstruck’ lovers embracing themselves and declaring their affections for one another to the world. With so many summer weddings all with different themes and crowds, it’s very difficult at times to know how to dress. Especially in the UK, finding out what the dress code is before the big date is essential. For example, a millinery hat should be sourced for a church ceremony, whereas statement tuxedo suits or whimsical chiffon dresses could be a more appropriate attire at a bohemian wedding. There are also protocols to follow such as never wear white, don’t show too much flesh and stick to more subtle hues. Trying to decide what to wear to a wedding could be a mine field.

My formula for choosing a suitable wedding attire is to keep it simple, but interesting. Weddings are very tricky at times as I never know if parts of the day will take place outside. This is why I always wear a light jacket or summer coat which can easily be shed off depending on the location and setting. It’s also a rescue piece for the occasional times when I misjudge the crowd and realise that I might be underdressed. Although from the AW14 collection, the Caslazur jacket is the ideal outerwear for summer weddings. The silk jacket is light as a feather and beautifully designed featuring romantic rococo prints. The masculine silhouette gives the coat a rock and roll edge which is effortlessly feminine and sexy at the same time. Perhaps it’s the rococo art scattered around the jacket, but this statement piece oozes sophistication and seems to tell a story of mature amore. It’s a flawless jacket for any wedding or midsummer night’s event. With such a magical item to play with, it’s important to find something that compliments it. The Missguided Sienna dress is an ideal piece from the high street which seems to do the trick. Midi dresses are ideal for weddings as it ensures unwanted accidents such as skirts riding up from materialising and I always think they look elegant with a touch of sex appeal. The dress can stand on its own, but in the spirit of keeping things interesting, I finished off the look with the eye catching Moa necklace from Maiocci. I always think having a little sparkle never hurts a look (if worn in moderation) and this necklace which features Swarovski crystals set on gold plexiglass adds such a light touch of fun and excitement. With an outfit in place, it’s time to enjoy the day full of happiness and eternal love.
